I have to say that I learn an awful lot from my circle of gay friends. They help me to appreciate how very blessed I have been all of my life, and they open my eyes to oppression and discrimination where I might not otherwise see it. I think that people who have struggled and suffered and come out on the other side in one piece, have a light within them that they shine for the rest of us, to help illuminate the dark places in our own hearts, minds, lives and in the world.
